On May 8th 2018, Columbus Inspires awarded it’s first-ever Startup Grant to EmpowerBus. EmpowerBus is trying to strengthen the roads to social mobility by providing dignified, reliable, and on-time transportation to and from employment, education, and healthcare opportunities. They utilize clustering and strategic partnerships to address the transportation barriers that are facing communities in Ohio. “Someday soon, we see EmpowerBus supporting everyone in our community and beyond because we all deserve equitable transportation”, said Aslyne Rodriguez, Co-Founder & CEO of EmpowerBus.

Columbus Inspires Board Member Eric Vanderson was a judge at the Startup Week Pitch Competition and was thrilled to see such a deserving candidate for the $5,000 grant, “EmpowerBus embodies everything we were looking for with our first ever Startup Grant: a for-profit enterprise whose mission is driven by the founders’ passion to make Columbus a better or more interesting place. They are an inspiring example of the fact that our community is enriched when residents of Columbus share their unique passions through a new business enterprise.”
