Columbus Inspires: Public Art

We believe that young professionals are attracted to cities that think big. They stay in cities that capture their heart.

Columbus is the 15th largest city in the United States – a metropolitan region with more than 2 million residents. The city has a rich history of art and a fabulous sense of community. And yet we lack a grand, public art icon to tell our story.

We believe that Columbus needs more public art. We have been inspired to showcase our city’s creativity, competitiveness, and openness for those visiting or living here. And now it is our time to create something big and bold – and to inspire others too!

Our goal is to raise funds to build and install a public art icon / city landmark in the heart of the city that will elevate the Columbus brand throughout the region and across the world.

Perhaps this statement by Americans for the Arts sums it up best: “Cities gain value through public art – cultural, social, and economic value. Public art is a distinguishing part of our public history and our evolving culture. It reflects and reveals our society, adds meaning to our cities, and uniqueness to our communities. Public art humanizes the built environment and invigorates public spaces. It provides an intersection between past, present and future.”

This project is meant to demonstrate the grand vision that we have as a city, and inspire current and future residents to think bigger.
